City of Oakland Hosts “AN INTIMATE EVENING”

An Elegant Evening of Music, Food, Silent Auction and Entertainment Benefiting the Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate and the Office of Parks and Recreation’s Youth Programs

Oakland, CA July 14, 2011: City of Oakland Council President Larry Reid, and the Office of Parks and Recreation (OPR) invite you to “An Intimate Evening” at the Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate, 2960 Peralta Oaks Court, Oakland on Friday, July 29, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. An Intimate Evening - is a white casual attire fundraiser supporting the restoration and revitalization of the Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate, and raises funds for the Office of Parks and Recreation’s youth programs. The event will feature the sounds of Martin Luther, Tarika Lewis, Lava Band, Bay Area Blues Society, Leticia Thierry, Kenny Cooper, Pulse Brasil, Blue Grass/Folk and more. The Bay Area’s finest culinary experts will display their artistry offering complimentary food, drinks and wine.

The event promises to bring laughter and energy through music and dance. Guests are invited to learn the latest moves with Salsa, Square and Line Dancing, and Chicago Stepping demonstrations. Guests will have the opportunity to stroll the beautiful lawns of the Estate, tour the Mansion, take a carriage ride and bid at the Silent Auction - all in a beautiful and romantic 50-acre park setting. “We must continue to create opportunities for special moments that allow us all to celebrate and appreciate each other, and explore and experience Oakland’s assets in unique ways,” says Audree V. Jones-Taylor, OPR Director.

An Intimate Evening is an annual celebration demonstrating the essential role of OPR in the community - in exposing, enlightening, empowering and encouraging educational excellence through recreational experiences.

It is an opportunity for the Department to express its gratitude and appreciation to individuals and entities who have gone above and beyond in supporting OPR.
