Former President Bill Clinton will join San Francisco Mayor Gavin
Newsom on Monday, October 5, for a visit to Los Angeles City College.
Following the visit, Clinton will be guest of honor at a fundraising
reception to benefit Newsom's campaign for governor.
Clinton and Newsom will visit LACC's new, LEED-certified Science and
Technology Building and talk to faculty and students about education
for green technology jobs, including those in solar installation,
weatherization, and more.
"I am delighted and honored that President Clinton will be joining me
in Los Angeles on October 5," Newsom said. "Bill Clinton remains one
of the most revered public figures among California Democrats."
Last week, Newsom participated in an online town hall that attracted
more than 2,500 viewers (watch at http://www.gavinnewsom.com/video).
As the only announced Democratic candidate for governor, Newsom has
met with voters and answered their questions at 24 in-person town
halls so far across the state, including in the San Fernando Valley,
South Los Angeles, Riverside, Long Beach, San Bernardino, Fresno, and
Sacramento.
Newsom's candidacy was recently endorsed by Former State Senator
Sheila Kuehl (D-Santa Monica), a leader in the fight for universal
health care and LGBT rights in California. State Senator Alex Padilla
(D-San Fernando Valley) is the Newsom for California statewide
Campaign Chair.
