February 9, 2009 Foreclosure: Protect Yourself and Your Family With Help From the National Foundation for Credit Counseling SILVER SPRING, MD--(Marketwire - February 09, 2009) - According to current housing statistics,
one child in every classroom in America is at risk of losing his or her
home because their parents are unable to pay the family's mortgage. More
and more families are finding themselves caught in the squeeze of an
adjustable rate mortgage with increased monthly payments, that they can't
afford, leading to the possibility of foreclosure. They are not alone.
Over two million mortgages will reset during the next 18 months putting
monthly payments out of reach for many. The National Foundation for Credit
Counseling, the nation's largest and longest serving national nonprofit
credit counseling organization, has established the Homeowner Crisis
Resource Center at www.nopierdastuhogar.org . This free resource offers
direct access to NFCC-certified housing counselors, a mortgage reality
check to help determine the risk of foreclosure, as well as other useful
information and financial tools, all of which are available in Spanish.
All too often, homeowners are reluctant to contact their lender because
they are embarrassed, don't believe the lender can help, and/or believe
reaching out would cause them to lose their home more quickly. Homeowners
facing foreclosure should know there is help available from a trusted
resource. Once it becomes a struggle to keep up with payments, it's
critical to reach out for help right away. Delaying action only limits the
resolution options.
