SAN FRANCISCO, December, 2008 – Prom season is right around the corner and The Princess Project, a Bay Area nonprofit that provides free prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who otherwise couldn’t afford them, is seeking a fairy godparent to donate space in San Francisco for its spring dress giveaway event.
“The Princes Project is eagerly getting ready for the 2009 prom season and we still don’t have a location to host our dress giveaway event in San Francisco,” said founder Laney Whitcanack. “This year, as times are tough, a lot of people are thinking about ways they can help their communities. Donating space would be a great way for an individual, property management company or landlord to give back and make the dreams of young girls come true.”
The Princess Project collects formal dresses and accessories from women, girls, and companies throughout the Bay Area, and distributes them free of charge to Bay Area girls at fun-filled events in the spring. An integral part of the Project is securing a location, ideally from January 15 – April 5, 2009, for the dress and accessory drives, event staging, and dress give away events. All donations are tax deductible. Signs thanking the owner and real estate agency will be prominently displayed at the event and on our website.
Since The Princess Project began in 2002, the organization has provided over 9,000 girls with free dresses and accessories. This year, our goal is to serve over 1,000 Bay Area high school girls with the support of 200 volunteers.
Space needs:
3,000+ square feet
Near public transportation. Ideally, retail, office, or commercial/warehouse space in the downtown San Francisco
Ideally, a carpeted space
Ground floor space or space easily accessed
