Original Berkeley Public Central Library Is Actually 114 Years Old!
The newly renovated Berkeley Public Central Library re-opened on April 6, 2002, after a very successful expansion and renovation project, a joint venture of Ripley/BOORA Architects with Page and Turnbull as the historic preservation architect. So it’s time for a party. Library staff knows how to celebrate, and we want to celebrate with you, both our wonderful 5-year-old new Central Library, but also you, our library users, who make it all worthwhile, and support us in oh-so-many ways.
So, bring the whole family for cake and a hearty toast to excellent library staff, programs, and service and to you, our loyal users, who make it all possible. See you April 6, 2007, at 1:30 pm. And, if this is your first time at the library, please walk around and look at the glorious building. And don’t forget to ask us questions as they come to you. That’s one of the reasons we’re here.
